UIC Scholarship Application Announcement: Fall Semester 2012
1. Types of Scholarship and Eligibility
A. Common Requirements: Minimum of 12 credit points in 2012 Spring Semester. No overlapping scholarships are permitted except for 국가장학금(the scholarship provided by Korea Student Aid Foundation)
B. Merit-based Scholarship (성적우수장학금): 2012 Spring Semester GPA in the top 10~15%
C. Need-based Scholarship (가계곤란장학금): 2012 Spring Semester GPA 2.5 or higher
2. Amount: Full tuition, 1/2 of the tuition, 1/3 of the tuition
3. Selection Criteria
A. Merit-based: Academic excellence (GPA)
B. Need-based: Financial need
4. Application Materials for Need-Based Scholarship
A. Scholarship Application Form (attached)
B. Documentation of income and property tax from applicant’s parents
Note: Merit-based scholarship applicants do not need to submit a scholarship application except for students currently on leave and planning to return in the 2012 Fall Semester.
Students who plan to return should submit a merit-based scholarship application(attached) via email to uic_aa@yonsei.ac.kr by July 5th. It is the student's responsibility to check the application status with the UIC Office.
5. Application Deadline: 5:00 P.M. July 5 (Thursday), 2012. The deadline is based on Korea Standard Time and will be enforced.
Documents should be submitted to the the UIC Office at Sinchon or at Songdo

6. Interview schedule for the need-based scholarship will be announced individually, if necessary.
7. Results Announcement: August 14, 2012
Scholarship awardees will be notified individually by email
8. Scholarship payment method: Automatic deduction on tuition statements.
9. All supplementary documents should be original copies, and should be submitted in Korean or English. (Faxed or scanned documents will not be accepted.)
10. Korean students whose parents are working in Korea must submit the following documents.
1) 부/모의 2011년 소득 증빙자료 각 1부(부/모 명의 각 1부, 필수)
가) 직장인 : 근로소득 원천징수 영수증(회사 및 세무서 발급)
나) 자영업자 : 소득금액 증명원(세무서 발급)
다) 무직 및 기타 : 사실증명(세무서 발급)
‘2011년 귀속 종합소득세 신고 사실이 없고, 근로(사업)소득으로 연말정산하여 제출된 사실이 없으며, 사업자 등록을 한 사실이 없음‘을 확인 받은 사실증명 제출)
2) 부/모의 2011년 건강보험료 납부확인서 각 1부{건강보험공단이나 인터넷 (www.nhic.or.kr) 발급, 필수}
단, 부/모 중 한 분만 건강보험료를 내거나 기타 가족이 본인 포함 부모의 건강보험료를 납부하는 경우, 기타 가족의 건강보험료 납부확인서 및 건강보험증(가입자와 보험급여를 받는 가족사항이 기재된 면) 사본 첨부.
3) 부/모의 2011년 지방세세목별과세증명서 각 1부
(동주민센터나 인터넷(www.minwon.go.kr) 발급, 필수)
단, 과세내역이 없는 경우도 ‘세목별 과세 증명서(과세 사실 없음)’ 발급 후 제출 요망
4) 기타 가계곤란 증빙서류{파산증명서, 부채증명서, 직계가족의 장기입원확인증명서, 실직증명서(구직등록필증-고용안정센터 발급) 등} 각 1부(해당자만)
5) 부/모 이혼 혹은 사망 시 부/모의 소득 및 재산 증빙자료는 부/모 중 현재 함께 거주하시는 분의 것만 제출 (단, 이혼 혹은 사망 확인 가능한 제적등본 혹은 가족관계증명서 제출해야함
11. For non-Korean students: The following should be prepared in English or in Korean.
1) Tax return statements from both you and your parent(s) or guardian(s)
(if applicable)
2) A copy of a salary statement from both you and/or your guardian(s) for the last six or twelve months (if applicable)
3) Other income/asset information documents (if applicable)
4) Any other documents proving a need for financial aid.
