For students admitted between the academic year of 2005 and 2007, there is a change in how they can select the ‘limited opportunity of repeating courses’, which is explained below in detail. Hence, students willing to take the opportunity to re-take courses, which are limited, must make changes to course registration details during add/drop period to be able to receive a grade up to an A+.
∎ Definition of Limited Opportunity in Repeating Courses for Students admitted between the Academic Year of 2005 and 2007
- Since 2010, the condition for repeating courses has expanded from D+ to C+, but the highest grade a student can receive when repeating a course is an A0. Students may receive up to an A+ when they repeat courses no more than the specified number, depending on their year of admission.
- students admitted in the academic year of 2005: 4 times
- students admitted in the academic year of 2006: 3 times
- students admitted in the academic year of 2007: 2 times
- If a student decides not to follow the specified number of courses (s)he can repeat, the highest grade a student can receive is an A0.
∎ Reason for Change: Students have made complaints that slow response during course registration period in regards to the number of courses they can repeat adds burden when registering for courses. Hence, the period to indicate the use of ‘specified number of courses that can be repeated’ will now be done during add/drop period.
∎ Change in how to indicate students’ intention to use the limited opportunity in repeating courses for those admitted between the academic year of 2005 and 2007.
- Until 1st semester of 2012: the number of courses that students can repeat will be indicated during course registration period.
- From 2nd semester of 2012 and onwards: ‘Do not Use the Limited Opportunity in Repeating Courses’ will be set as default and the highest grade that students can receive will be an A0. If students plan to use the limited opportunity in repeating courses, they should make changes at course registration details during add/drop period, which will allow them to receive a grade up to an A+.
- To make the change, students should go to Yonsei Portal system ⇒ Undergraduate Course Enrollment ⇒ log-in ⇒ course registration details ⇒ click “course repeat*” ⇒ select use of ‘specified number of course repeats’
¡Ø Course Repeat*: the highest grade students can receive is an A0, Course Repeat: students can receive up to an A+
- Students should make the decision on whether to select the use of ‘specified number of course repeats’ even if courses such as University College Physical Education, which are evaluated on a P/NP basis, changes into a Letter Grade(A, B, C, D, F) evaluation.
∎ Note:
- When students are repeating a course with a grade of B- or greater, the number of times students can repeat the course will be automatically deducted
- Students who apply for return between August 23 and September 6 should select the use of ‘specified number of course repeats’ on the day of their course registration (September 10).
- After add/drop period, students will be unable to change the option of ‘specified number of course repeats’.
