‘Four Rivers and 16 Dams with Upgraded Rivers! They are our future assets.’
The 8th Four-River Exploration
<o:p></o:p>
Objectives
Since the turn of 20 century, the four rivers have been almost abandoned because of accumulation of sediments caused by cutting trees in mountains and rapid urbanization. Now, they are returned to us as our resource and center of the new culture around the rivers after the Four-River Restoration project.
‘Nature Love’ has been organizing the exploration of the four rivers (Han, Geum, Nakdong, and Youngsan) to promote national pride and learn historical values for youth and the general public. We have been exploring the rivers from the origin to the mouth.
We will visit Gangcheon and Epo dams, Water Environment Research Institute, and historical sites near rivers and appreciate the values and importance of our rivers.
Through this event, we will learn how to keep the rivers healthy ecologically and transfer the rivers to our descendants as a valuable resource.
