The history of the Yonsei University Central Library started in 1915 with the founding of Yonhi College. Since its inception, the Central Library, which now boasts a collection of 1,480,000 books, 13,000 periodicals, 160 web databases, and 13,500 e-journals, has been an invaluable academic resource for numerous students and professors. In 1990, the Central Library became the first Korea into operate a computerized library system. In 2001, the Central Library systemized a digital library which offers bibliographic information, original texts, non-book media materials, lecture/research information, internet services, and more.

Borrowing
Undergraduate students can borrow up to seven items, but each item should be returned within 15 days. Students on a leave of absence can borrow library materials after submitting a checkout request form at the 2F circulation desk.
Photocopying
The price for making photocopies is 40 KRW per page and is payable through the ID account system. Payment in cash is allowed for a small quantity of copies or for materials that are not copyrighted. Color copies are 450 KRW per A4-size page and 900 KRW per A3-size page. The Electric Information Room copier and the self-service copiers on 2-4F are open from 9:00am to 10:00pm. (8:00pm on Saturdays) The second floor copy room is open from 8:30am to 6:30pm, and the fourth floor copy room is open from 9:00am to 8:30pm.
Printing
PCs connected to printing machines are located in each floor. The machines are fast high-resolution digital multi-printers. Printing costs 50KRW per page, and students can pay through the ID account system.

Faxing
The Copy Room located on the second floor of the Central Library offers domestic and international faxing services. Sending faxes to the Seoul and Incheon region costs 300KRW per page while other regions cost 500KRW. International faxing costs vary from 900KRW to 1,700KRW depending on the distance.
