2016 Assistant Professor of Philosophy (tenure-track) and Assistant Professor of Philosophy (teaching-track)

The Underwood International College (UIC) of Yonsei University, Korea invites applications for a tenure-track position and up to two teaching-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor of Philosophy, at the Yonsei International Campus in Songdo, located within the greater Seoul metropolitan region. The teaching-track positions are two-year renewable positions, with renewal depending mainly on teaching performance. For both tracks, area of specialization is open, but those with specialization or competency in ethics, Asian or comparative philosophy, and philosophy of science are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a firm commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.

 

Teaching responsibilities are 6 credit-hours (2 classes) per semester for tenure-track and 9 credit-hours (3 classes) for teaching-track, and will include teaching Critical Reasoning as part of UIC's core curriculum. The starting date is March or September 2016. Compensation includes a competitive salary, health insurance and other benefits, subsidized housing (for up to 6 years), and a generous relocation and start-up package. Yonsei University's Underwood International College is a highly competitive program at South Korea's most prestigious private university, and combines the intimate atmosphere and low student-faculty ratio of a liberal arts college with the resources of a major research university. All instruction is in English, and the student body represents over 50 different countries.
