Profile

Professor Kim graduated with a doctorate in sociology from the University of Washington. He is the current Director of Institute for Modern Korean Studies at Yonsei and is a senior faculty member at GSIS. He has also lectured at the University of Oregon, Williams College, and the University of Washington. The Professor remains active in both professional and academic associations related to sociology, Asian and Korean studies, and NGO studies. He is the editor in chief of the Korean Studies Forum and also sits on the board of numerous academic journals. Professor Kim has played an instrumental role in bringing distinguished lecturers to Yonsei University for conferences and symposiums. His area of specialization is in Korean society and culture, research design and methodology, economic sociology, and East Asian political economy.
