Profile

Hye-Joon Yoon teaches English and Comparative Literature and Intellectual History at Underwood Division, College of Liberal Arts, and the Graduate Program in Comparative Literature. His doctoral dissertation was on Charles Dickens and capitalism, but he is currently immersed in the eighteenth-century intellectual history and publishing history. He loves to teach European literature at UIC, however, from Dante to Dostoevsky. He served as the Director of Underwood Division for three years, and has played some role in getting the program going in the early days of UIC. He has also translated novels into Korean and has written a couple of novels in Korean, largely neglected as they are.
