Announcement for 2017 GKS Korean Government Support Program for Self-Financed Foreign Students  

1. Purpose

   ? The scholarship program will generate motive of accomplishment among students and positive perceptions of Korea.

2. Support Size : 170 Students

3. Scholarship Information

   ? Benefits : 6,000,000 KRW (500,000 KRW per month)

   ? Scholarship Period : March 2017 ~ February 2018 (12 months)

   ? Payment Procedure

    - The NIIED transfers the scholarship money to the bank account of the relevant universities (Every semester, twice a year)

    - The universities then pay the monthly scholarship to the selected students on a monthly basis

4. Qualifications

  Applicants must qualify all of the requirements below

         ※ Previous recipients of the 2nd self-financed scholarship program cannot apply (Will be enforced from 2018)

  ① Must be an international student in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year  at a Korean university at the time of applying

  ② Must have a total GPA of 80 percentile or higher

  ③ Must have the previous semester's GPA of 80 percentile or higher

      ※ Grade must be recorded out of 100 percentile grading system(If the grade transcript only shows GPA, a university faculty must write down the grade converted to 100 percentile and sign accordingly),  Students with rounded-off score of 80 cannot apply

  ④ Must have a Level 4 or higher on the TOPIK

5. Application Submission

    - Online Application Period : Jan 25, 2017 (Wed) ~ Feb 22, 2017 (Wed)

    - Inquiry for online application (Overseas Study Support Division, Dept. of Planning&Management, 02-3668-1441)

    - Procedure : Create an account → Online application → Print application form → Submit the application and other required documents to the university

    - Feb 20, 2017 (Mon) ~ Feb 28, 2017 (Tue)

     Directly Submit to Yonsei University Office of International Affairs (Baekyang Hall S308, 02-2123-3488)
