English Education Testing Workshop:
The Whys and Hows of Developing Foreign Language Tests
2:00 – 4:00 pm
Friday, June 17th, 2016
Room 526, Oesol Building
Abstract
Language tests are used for making informed decisions about students, which intends to bring about beneficial consequences for the students, programs, and institutions. Many commercially available standardized language tests are used for various purposes in numerous contexts, but it is important to note that they cannot be always well suited to any kinds of situations. This makes it necessary to critically review them and sometimes to develop a new language test for the particular situation. In order to help people to embark on this important activity, this talk will provide the basis for evaluating existing language tests and for developing a new language test and justifying its use.
