UIC Scholarship Application Announcement : Spring Semester 2012

 1. Types of Scholarship and Eligibility 

     A. Common Requirements: Minimum of 12 credit points in 2011 Fall Semester.

 

  No overlapping scholarships are permitted. 
B. Merit-based Scholarship (
성적우수장학금): 2011-Fall Semester GPA in the top 10~15%

 

C. Need-based Scholarship (가계곤란장학금): 2011-Fall Semester GPA 2.5 or higher 

2. Amount: Full tuition, 1/2 of the tuition, 1/3 of the tuition 

3. Selection Criteria 
   A. Merit-based: Academic excellence (GPA) 
   B. Need-based: Economic need 

4. Application Materials for Need-Based Scholarship 
   A. Scholarship Application Form (attached)
   B. Documentation of income and property tax from applicant’s parents 
   Note:  Merit-based scholarship applicants do not need to submit the scholarship application except for students currently on leave and planning to return in the 2012 Spring Semester. 

 

Students who plan to return should submit a merit-based scholarship application(attached) via email to uic_aa@yonsei.ac.kr by January 6th. It is the student's responsibility to check the application status with the UIC Office.

 
 


5. Application Deadline: 5:00 P.M. January 6 (Friday), 2012. The deadline is based on Korea Standard Time and will be enforced.

 

Documents should be submitted to the the UIC Office (New Millennium Hall Rm 401, Sinchon Campus)

Korean students who apply for the need based scholarship must also apply for the 국가장학금 at the same time by December 30. 6. Interview schedule for the need-based scholarship will be announced individually, if necessary. 

7. Results Announcement: Early February
    Need-based s
cholarship awardees will be notified individually by email  
    and merit-based Scholarship results will be announced on the UIC website.
 
8. Scholarship payment method: Automatic deduction on tuition statements. 

9. All supplementary documents should be original copies, and should be submitted in Korean or English. (Faxed or scanned documents will not be accepted.)

10. Korean students whose parents are working in Korea must submit the following documents. 
   
. 부/모의 소득 및 재산 증빙자료 등(보호자 모두)
 
 

    1) 직장인: 근로소득 원천징수 영수증(회사 및 세무서 발급)

 

    2) 자영업자: 소득금액 증명원(세무서 발금)

 

    3) 무직 및 기타: 사실증명(세무서 발급)

 

        '2010년 귀속 종합소득세 신고 사실이 없고, 근로(사업)소득으로 연말정산하여

        제출된 사실이 없으며, 사업자등록을 한 사실이 없음'을 확인받은 사실증명 제출  
    부/모의 2011년 건강보험료 납부확인서 각 1부

 

    {건강보험공단이나 인터넷(www.nhic.or.kr) 발급, 필수}  
   다. 부/모의 2011년 지방세세목별과세증명서 각 1부(동주민센터 발급, 필수)
   라. 기타 가계곤란 증빙서류 중 해당서류 각 1부(아래 서류는 해당자만 제출)

 

    -. 파산증명서, 부채증명서, 실직증명서(구직등록필증-고용안정센터 발급) 등 각 1부

 

    -. 국민기초생활보장법대상자국민기초생활보장수급자증명서(동주민센터 발행

11. For non-Korean students: The following should be prepared in English or in Korean.
      1) Tax return statements from both you and your parent(s) or guardian(s)  (if applicable)
      2) A copy of a salary statement from both you and/or your guardian(s) for the last six or twelve months (if applicable)
      3) Other income/asset information documents (if applicable)
      4) Any other documents proving a need for financial aid.

 
 

 

It is the student's responsibility to convince the school of true financial need. The more supporting documents you can submit the higher your chances of success will be. If possible, for example, you should submit copies of your banking and credit card statements for the past 6 months (12 months preferred), your housing lease agreement, statements of unemployment and bankruptcy by your guardian, and income tax and estate tax statements by yourself and/or guardian. All documents not in English or Korean must be translated into English or Korean.
