Freshman Orientation and Prefrosh Workshop
From 12th February to 13th February, the 2018 UIC Freshman Orientation took place, welcoming the incoming freshman class to the UIC community for the first time. The event was organized by a special Task Force Team composed of UIC student council, homeroom captains, and major representatives.
About 400 freshman students heard about the great variety of programs and opportunities exclusive to UIC students (Global Career Tour, Global Research Competition, and more), club activities available and academic tips over the two days. They also listened to presentations on important things to take note of as members of a community such as disabilities rights and gender sensibility.
The Orientation was filled with not only helpful information but also plenty of fun. The freshman students participated in point games all across the campus with their homerooms, and got a chance to learn about each other. They also participated in the Cheering Orientation with Akaraka.
Pre-Frosh Workshop, which took place from 27th February and 1st March was filled with even more fun. Also organized by the TFT, the students went away to Ganghwa for 3 days. On top of UIC Olympics and Golden Bell Quiz, some homerooms put together a skit and presented it on the last night of the workshop. Each assigned a decade as a theme, the performances ranged from ABBA medley to a love story with an AI.
It was an exciting and memorable start to their college life for the class of 2018.
