Student Clubs at UIC
One of the hallmarks of life at UIC is the diversity of exciting club activities. Founded and run by the students and for the students, each of the clubs show off a unique identity that adds to the vibrancy of the UIC community. Art, sports, academics, volunteering… you name it, and we have it! Here are the greetings from the clubs themselves!
CATS – Culture and Arts
Hello, we are CATS – the Culture, Arts, and Theatre Society of UIC. We provide a fun and friendly environment for creation and conversation about all things literary, cinematic, and generally artistic. We publish a bi-annual literary magazine as well as participate in group outings, museum exhibitions, and the like. We’re looking for anyone with an interest in the creative and the colorful!
Haze - Basketball
We hold tryouts at the beginning of each semester to add new players. We also have weekly practices where we do individual skills training as well as practice games. We may also compete in the Yonsei President’s Cup.
Integrated Science and Engineering Academic Society (ISEAS)
ISEAS is one and only academic society in UIC, focusing on scientific and engineering topics. Our main activities include: self-prepared seminars on the most topics in the field of ISE. In addition to seminars and science fair each semester, we provide opportunities including job tour, ISE lab tour and graduate school preparation with professor.
NODAJI - Yonsei UIC Rock Band
Nodaji is the only UIC rock band. Performances throughout the year include the annual Daedong festival, our regular performance each semester and other additional events such as collaborative performances with other bands. We play a wide range of genres and even original songs. As a band we have weekly practice sessions.
Prism X - Film
Prism X is UIC’s one and only filmmaking club. We welcome all writers, cinematographers, directors, editors, actors, and those who wish to create something great with quality storytelling. Join Prism X to meet people with similar interests, to watch and discuss films of all genres, to experiment with different styles of art, and to ultimately learn about the filmmaking process with your peers.
UIC Scribe - Journal
The UIC Scribe is the official student-run newsmagazine of Underwood International College. Published per semester, each issue epitomizes the commitment of its journalists to providing intelligent, in-depth, and well-written coverage of the people, events, and issues that matter to the UIC community.
U2 (Underwood United) - Soccer
This is one and only soccer club for the UIC department. We practice twice every week. Every second week on Saturday we have friendly matches with other schools or other team in Yonsei. In the first semester we participate in International cup and Yonsei President’s Cup - Soccer League and in the second semester we host Songdo Cup. We may be invited to other soccer tournaments. We always welcome anyone with spirit and passion.
Underwood Global Community
UGC is an international student society at Yonsei University that provides support to enrolled international and Korean students. UGC’s Mission is to create a vibrant global community within the student body of UIC, to encourage cultural exchange and understanding between students of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds, to help accommodate international students coming to UIC, and to represent the interests of its members.
Underwood Law Society
Established in 2010, we pursue the study of Law through studying public international law, international economic law, and preparation of international moot court competition. We are a committed and aspiring Team, warmly welcoming all interested, willing, and capable students from within and outside of UIC, regardless of major and class.
Underwood Vision Ensemble
Founded in 2006, Underwood Vision Ensemble is an instrumental group led and organized by the students of Underwood International College, Yonsei University. With generous support from the UIC Office and the faculty adviser Prof. Helen Lee, UVE holds a number of performances and group activities throughout the year. UVE aims to foster closer relationships among members as well as to enhance its members’ musical performance.
VOIS – Academic Society
Visionaries of International Studies (VOIS) is the first and only academic society operated by undergraduate students within UIC. Members of VOIS write group research papers every semester and publish their works in international academic journals, including the GSIS journal. The separate teams get together for regular group meetings at Sinchon campus to inform one another about the progress of their research and to share the up-to- date findings, as well as to hear feedback and comments from other students. The club also meets outside the campus repeatedly throughout the semester to eat out or to have some fun.
Yonsei Underwood Union English Debate Club
YUU, First and the Best
Since its birth in 2006, Yonsei Underwood Union Debate Club has been one of the most influential teams of Korean debate, having been champions, grand finalists, and many more in both national and international tournaments. Our pride lies in striving for excellence with our dear members who are ready to challenge themselves. YUU warmly welcomes brilliant and passionate minds to join our path.
