Theme: From coffee branding to sustainable agricultural development
This project aims to create a coffee brand for smallholder coffee farmers in Tanzania
to increase the livelihoods and improve capacity building of the farmers and their families
through a fair trade-based cooperative that connects them to the international market directly.
Field Site: E3mpower office, Arusha, Tanzania

Caleb International (development consulting firm in Seoul)
E3Empower (Silicon Valley-based NGO for appropriate technology in developing countries)
Approximate dates
Visit preparation from end of April to June, visit during July 3-16, 2017
Anticipated Research activities
Analysis of the local, regional, and international coffee market, participation in branding andcafe management in the long-run.
We will visit Fair Trade coffee farms in Arusha, Tanzania, during the summer.
Eligibility
The program is open to all students in Techno-Art Division and Integrated Social Sciences Division.
Skills required
The applicant should have background in the nexus between environment and development and ability to work in the field.
Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
Experience in multicultural setting and/or working with community organizations is a plus.
