UIC Delegation for Sustainable Development

Supported by Social Impact Initiative for Global Creative Talent

Theme: Let there be light

Solar Social Enterprise for Sustainable Rural Development

Main Affiliation: Energy Farm (http://energyfarm.kr/comm/)

About the Delegation

Energy Farm is a social enterprise that aims to empower the poor in developing

countries through increased energy access through renewable resources and continued maintenance and operation skills for electricity service delivery. Even in countries where there are national plans for grid extensions, the last mile of electricity service delivery is usually difficult to be met, since many households reside in remote villages. Thus, through public-private partnerships, Energy Farm provides alternative off-grid renewable energy options at affordable cost to the energy-poor households. Students will visit local NGOs along with Energy Farm to understand the potentials of solar energy.
