Fall 2019 Entrance Ceremony and Orientation
From August 26th to 27th, Fall 2019 entrance ceremony and orientation of Underwood International College was held in Veritas Hall A. Incoming international students and parents attended the ceremony to interact with the UIC community and learn about their new home. The professors and the UIC administration team provided several programs and sessions to help students successfully navigate the transition from high school to college including ‘How to prepare for course enrollment’, ‘Tips for college life’, ‘Cultural transitions’ and more.
The ceremony began with the welcoming remark of the Dean, Professor Taeyoon Sung. Dean Sung welcomed the freshmen and parents, and assured that four years at UIC will stand out among their lifetime experiences. Following the welcoming remark, the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Professor Hyun Jae Kim, introduced the faculty members and had a presentation explaining about UIC’s curriculum and special programs.
The freshmen were then divided into groups and had a chance to interact with peer mentors and academic advisors. Knowing the anxiety and difficulty involved with the transition, the peer mentors and academic advisors did not hesitate to share their stories and gave practical advice.
As UIC is a truly global community with students from 74 different countries, it has been and will always be our priority to help the students begin their academic journey at ease. All members of Underwood International College welcome the freshmen and would like to congratulate once again for opening the new chapter at UIC.
