Introducing SAM, the UIC Student Ambassadors
by Minh Le (CTM ‘18.5)
The UIC Student Ambassadors (SAM), founded in 2011, is a student organization exclusive to Underwood International College that manages UIC’s online and offline platforms with the aim of growing its presence and outreach to prospective international students all around the world.
Working closely with UIC Office, SAM has managed to create valuable content for UIC’s SNS (e.g. Facebook, Instagram) throughout the past few years, from taking on-site photos at UIC’s events to conducting livestream Q&A sessions for prospective students. Assisting current and prospective UIC students always remains SAM’s main objective.
Regarding offline work, SAM has been actively contributing to offline events to strengthen the bond among UIC’s students. Each year, SAM will assist the UIC Office in promoting “UIC Dinner with the President” – a renowned event held exclusively for international students at UIC. In addition, SAM is also in charge of holding Spotlight – a yearly event recapping what SAM has done and accomplished.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, SAM has replaced weekly meetings with the activities of online meetings via Zoom, with the addition of the brand-new Zoom workshops – sharing knowledge sessions from UIC alumni and professors. For the Fall 2020 semester, SAM is aiming to come up with a variety of events to engage the UIC community and SAM members, so we can all have the best UIC and Yonsei experience.
SAM has made tremendous progress in the UIC Community during their nine years in operation, and the club aims to be bigger and better in the upcoming semester.
