Ana Lucia De La Fuente

Hello! I’m Ana Lucia De La Fuente, a senior majoring in both Information & Interaction Design, and Comparative Literature & Culture. I’m deeply passionate about comics, sea creatures and books. Through my life, writing and reading have become essential parts of my daily routine, giving me firsthand insight into how challenging and intimidating the writing process can be—especially when starting out in college, or when you don’t have much experience. However, I firmly believe that, with practice and guidance, anyone can learn how to use language effectively to express their ideas with clarity and confidence. Each essay is an opportunity to sharpen your writing skills! Though working on a paper may feel overwhelming at first, I’m here to assist you with structure, content and editing, helping you make the process smoother and more rewarding. Don’t hesitate to stop by the Writing Center for a second opinion, some guidance, or just to ensure you’re on the right track. I’m excited to be part of
your writing journey and to support you in any way I can!

Amanda Tresca

Hello! My name is Amanda Tresca, and I joined Yonsei University as part of the 21.5 batch. As a student majoring in Comparative Literature and Culture, I love writing and it’s a huge component of my school work. On the flip side, I understand how daunting the writing process feels at times. How do I start this essay? What quotes best support my thesis? Am I on the right track? Writing involves dedicated thinking from beginning to end and yet there are no right or wrong answers. My goal at the UIC Writing Center is to help you navigate the writing process and find out where you want to grow. Through tutoring I wish to aid in honing your writing skill, so that with time and practice, you gain confidence in your work and abilities. Whether you just need assistance fine tuning or have no idea where to start, I am here to listen and help!

Baisalova Ayazhan

Hello everyone! My name is Ayazhan, a Class of 22.5 student majoring in PSIR and QRM. Throughout my academic career, I have come to realize that, to me, writing is ultimately a set of tools and skills that allows one to synthesize their subjective experiences and ideas with forms and structures, which enables a deeper form of communication and transmission. This process can come of as daunting, however, good writing is an ability that can only be honed through active effort and practice, which is exactly what the Writing Center aims to encourage in students. Thus, if you ever find yourself in the midst of a struggle with a paper – be it in terms of form, style, or content – you can turn towards us for help. Having a pair of a fresh eyes or a third-party opinion can help you work out the kinks in your guiding questions, thesis, and arguments, which will allow you to properly transmit your valuable opinions and achieve the results you desire in your studies. Therefore, do not hesitate to ask for guidance in answering the difficult questions that writing can sometimes pose, and come see us at the Writing Center. I hope to assist you to the best of my abilities!

Fairuza Jagafarova

Hi everyone! My name is Fairuza, and I am currently pursuing an Economics degree at Yonsei University class of 2023.5. I come from Kazakhstan, a country known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Growing up, I was inspired by the works of Kazakh poets who poured their love for our country into beautifully crafted verses. Their words sparked my own passion for writing, and for a long time, I dreamed of becoming a poet myself. Although I chose a different career path, writing has remained a significant part of my life. I often find myself putting feelings into words, reflecting on my experiences, and drawing comfort from the writings of others. This love for exploring human emotions and perspectives naturally led me to the study of social sciences. Here, I can delve into research that seeks to understand how people think, feel, and interpret the world around them. I hope to help you to find your style and make writing your new passion!

Sangeun Lee

Hi, everyone! My name is Sangeun Lee, and I’m a double major in Sustainable Development and Cooperation (SDC) and Science, Technology, and Policy (STP). My passion for supporting students in achieving their writing goals is what drives my work in the Writing Center. As a neurodivergent individual, I understand how challenging it can be to "just write," which is why I strive to create an open and supportive space where all writers can explore and discover their own strengths. In our consultations, we’ll focus on understanding what works best for you as a writer. I believe that writing is a deeply personal process, and I’m here to help you tailor strategies that align with your individual style. Whether you’re brainstorming ideas, organizing your thoughts, or polishing your final draft, I’m excited to collaborate with you on your writing journey. When I’m not working or reading, you can usually find me experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your writing goals!
