• What is the difference between UIC and GLC?

  • Underwood International College (UIC) and Global Leaders College (GLC) are both part of Yonsei University, offering distinct programs tailored to different student bodies and academic focuses.

    Underwood International College (UIC):

    • Language of Instruction: All courses are conducted in English.
    • Curriculum: Offers international liberal arts education dedicated to interdisciplinary studies and innovation.
    • Student Body: Attracts a global mix of students, including both Korean and international individuals seeking a highly selective, English-language liberal arts education.

    Global Leaders College (GLC): Homepage

    • Language of Instruction: Primarily Korean, with some courses available in English.
    • Curriculum: Offering programs designed to equip students with skills applicable in various industries.
    • Student Body: Korean students who have completed their secondary education outside of Korea and International students aiming to nurture global leaders who can bridge cultures.

• When is the matriculation?

  • (1) If you are an International Student :
    
    (a) applying for Underwood International College in the 1st Round, you will be matriculating in the Spring Semester (March).
    
    (b) applying for Underwood International College in the 2nd Round, you will be matriculating in the Fall Semester (September).
    
    (2) If you are a Korean Student (including Overseas Korean) applying for Underwood International College, you will be matriculating in the Spring Semester (March).

• What are the qualifications for "International Students"?

  • First, you must have finished/will finish high school and hold/will hold a high school diploma before entering Underwood International College (UIC). If you were a high school student when the application was made, you must submit high school diploma to the UIC Office before matriculation at UIC.
    
    Second, you and your parents must be all non-Koreans by passport. You will NOT be considered as an International Student, in case you or either one of your parents has a dual citizenship of Korea and another country.

• May I apply to more than one college in Korea?

  • You may apply to more than one college in Korea. However, if you are admitted to Underwood International College and have registered, you will not be able to register to other universities in Korea or other colleges of Yonsei University. Thereby, even if you are admitted to several universities, you can only register to one university in Korea.

• Are there GPA and SAT/ACT cutoffs for admission?

  • (1) If you are an International Student :
    Since there is no single formula for admission decision, there are no exact cutoff. Offer of admission is made to students who have earned high score in two evaluation processes. First stage is document review, where evaluation is made based on the academic performance (high school record, grades, rank in class, personal statements, and extracurricular activities) and standardized tests (SAT, ACT, GCE-A Level, IB, AP etc). Students selected in the first stage will be guided to the Second stage which is an interview.
    
    (2) If you are a Korean Student, Overseas Korean Student, or Transfer Student please refer to our Office of Admissions website (http://admission.yonsei.ac.kr)

• Are official test scores mandatory?

  • (1) If you are an International Student :
    Submitting official test scores from high school graduation exam or university entrance exam (SAT, ACT, GCE-A Level, IB, AP, etc.) is not mandatory. However, it is strongly recommended as the test score(s) can verify your academic performance. 

    (2) If you are a Korean Student, Overseas Korean Student, or Transfer Student please refer to our Office of Admissions website

• Should the application documents be original and in English?

  • (1) If you are an International Student : all documents submitted for admission should be official original version written in English.
    Documents in other languages must be accompanied by a notarized English translation. If original documents cannot be submitted, a copy of the original document should be submitted with a seal affixed by the issuing institution. If you have attended more than one school, you should send official records from each school.

• What is an apostille? (Apostille Guideline attached)

  • The apostille (a special kind of letter and stamp) is the shortest process of legalization. An apostille can be used if both countries (the country issuing the document and the country in which the document will be used) are members of the international 'The Hague Apostille Convention.' Republic of Korea is a member of the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents.

• How can I apply for a campus tour?

  • Yonsei University's Student Ambassadors offer Campus Tours in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese.

• What degrees are offered?

  • Underwood International College offers three Yonsei undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Science (B.S.)., and Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
