UIC places great importance on its students’ career development. The Career Development Center (CDC) at the Underwood International College provides services and resources to guide and prepare students for successful careers.

Career Lecture Series & Workshops

From résumé-writing workshops to talks by industry experts, career exploration and preparation events are held throughout the semester with faculty and professionals from various fields. These career-oriented lectures and workshops cover a broad range of topics, enhancing students’ understanding of the current job market and equipping them for their future careers.

Career Counseling

There is no one-size-fits-all solution for career development. Individual career counseling is available for UIC students through faculty members, academic advisors, and CDC staff. The CDC holds regular office hours to provide information on job applications, professional programs, and graduate school admissions. Practical advice on preparing application materials, such as resumes and cover letters, is also offered.

Annual Alumni Career Fair

One of the most frequently asked questions is where UIC graduates go after college. The annual Alumni Career Fair offers a glimpse into the job outlook for UIC graduates. UIC alumni working in various fields attend the fair to share insights about their roles, required qualifications, and personalized career advice. Students can meet alumni working at companies they aspire to join and begin building their professional networks.

Alumni Career Talks

The CDC hosts Alumni Career Talks throughout each semester. These sessions provide students with a deeper understanding of specific industries and broaden their career perspectives. Alumni also share how they prepared for their careers during college, offering valuable tips for effective career preparation.
