Exchange Program

UIC students have access to a wide range of study abroad opportunities through UIC-exclusive exchange partnerships, Yonsei University-wide exchange programs administered by the Office of International Affairs (OIA), and other approved study abroad options.
This page highlights UIC-exclusive exchange opportunities while also introducing other study abroad pathways available to UIC students.

UIC-Exclusive / University-wide (OIA) Exchange

UIC students may participate in exchange programs through either UIC-exclusive partner institutions or Yonsei University-wide exchange partnerships administered by OIA.
UIC-exclusive exchange partnerships are designed to complement UIC’s liberal arts and interdisciplinary curriculum, while OIA University-wide exchange programs offer access to a broader network of partner institutions around the world.
The initial application and placement process is conducted through the Yonsei OIA exchange system. Students selected for UIC-exclusive exchange programs will subsequently receive guidance from UIC regarding the host institution’s application procedures and required documents.

Eligibility
  • Completed at least TWO semesters at UIC
    • One semester for junior transfer students
  • Students should review the specific GPA, language proficiency, and other institution-specific requirements for each host university through the OIA University Finder.
Placement
  • Submit an online application through the Yonsei Portal System during the application period. For application procedures and deadlines, please refer to the OIA website
  • Students with higher combined scores, based on GPA and language proficiency, will be given priority in host institution placement.
  • Selection by Yonsei University does not guarantee final admission by the host institution
Tuition
  • Exchange students must pay tuition to Yonsei University during the regular tuition payment period, regardless of their actual departure date for the exchange program.
  • The tuition amount payable to Yonsei University will reflect any applicable exchange scholarship described below.
Scholarship
  • Eligible participants automatically receive a UIC exchange scholarship; no separate application is required.
    • UIC-exclusive exchange programs: 1/2 tuition reduction
    • OIA University-wide exchange programs: 1/3 tuition reduction
  • The above tuition reduction scholarship does not apply to short-term exchange programs (summer/winter programs).
  • Students are not eligible for the scholarship under the following circumstances:
    • Completion of fewer than 12 credits in the semester immediately before dispatch
    • GPA below 2.5 in the semester immediately before dispatch
    • Receipt of a full-tuition scholarship from another source
  • For OIA University-wide exchange programs, additional funding opportunities may be available through OIA. Students should refer to the OIA website for the most up-to-date information.
Enrollment status
  • The exchange period may be counted as part of the required period of enrollment at Yonsei.
  • Students cannot apply for graduation or take a leave of absence while participating in an exchange program
  • Students should be enrolled at Yonsei University in their last semester for graduation.
