Social Innovation
Social Innovation
A social innovation is a novel solution to a social problem that is more effective, efficient, sustainable, or ethical than existing approaches. The value created through social innovation accrues primarily to society rather than to individuals.
Social innovation is also often characterized by an integration of the private and public sectors. Ultimately, social problems cannot be properly addressed, let alone meet a sustainable solution, without a combination of entrepreneurship, policy making, and community participation. An active exchange of ideas and values among differing groups is necessary to create the well-being of the society as a whole.
Therefore, Yonsei Center for Social Innovation acknowledges the interdisciplinary mission of Techno-Art Divison and Integrated Social Sciences Division, and highly encourages students to continue thinking associatively, perceive problems as opportunities, and work together in order to achieve true social innovation.
