[UIC] Aug. 2025 Graduation Commencement (Ceremony, Gown, Album, Diploma, and Group Photo)

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! This notice outlines key graduation activities and logistics for August 2025 graduates. Please carefully review the following sections:

1. Pre-graduation preparations (gown & album pickup)
2. Graduation day schedule (ceremony, group photos, gown return, diploma pickup)

-       Graduation Ceremony: August 29(Fri) 11AM, @Main Auditorium (대강당)

While UIC does not hold a formal college-level commencement in August, we are pleased to offer a group photo and light gathering opportunity, newly added based on student feedback to commemorate this meaningful milestone. (Please refer to 2.B. for more details)

   1.     Pre-Graduation Preparation

  A. Graduation Gown and Cap Pickup

       1)              Dates: August 25 (Mon) – 29 (Fri)

       2)              Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

       3)              Venue: Room 204, Daewoo Hall Annex (대우관별관), Sinchon Campus

       4)              Items to Bring:

-          Yonsei Student ID card (physical or mobile)

       * If student ID card is unavailable: your photo ID card (driver’s license, ARC, etc) + the certificate of (expected) graduation

-          Library book return confirmation (if applicable)

-          Completion of the August 2025 Graduate Survey (Click)

*  Please make sure to complete the survey in advance, as long wait times may occur due to students filling it out on-site before picking up their gowns. Your submission status will be verified on the spot. 

-          Gown laundry/storage fee: Waived for UIC students. DO NOT MAKE PAYMENT. If you have already paid, the fee will be refunded to your bank account registered in the Yonsei portal during September.

       5)              Pickup by Proxy: Graduate should submit this Proxy Pickup Request form (click) in advance, providing the proxy's name, date of birth, and contact information.Proxy should bring their own ID card with photo and DOB, and be able to provide the graduate's student ID number.

       6)              FAQs:

-          Gowns and caps can be borrowed/returned only once during the period.

-          Early/late pickup is not allowed.

-          Non-graduating students cannot rent gowns.

  B. Graduation Album

      It is not distributed in August.

  2.      Graduation Day Schedule

  A. Graduation Ceremony

* This university-wide ceremony is hosted by Yonsei University and will be conducted in Korean.

       1)              Date & Time: August 29, 2025(Fri) 11:00 AM

       2)              Venue:대강당 Main Auditorium, Sinchon Campus

       3)              Entrance Guidelines

-          Only graduates wearing academic gowns will be allowed to enter the auditorium.

-          Graduates should gather in front of the auditorium by 10:30 AM and follow guidance from the faculty. The entrance to the 1st floor will be controlled once the ceremony begins, so punctuality is appreciated.

-          Bachelor’s degree graduates will be seated on the 2nd floor.

-          Doctoral and Master’s degree graduates will be seated on the 1st floor.

-          Parents and family members will not be allowed to enter the auditorium. They may watch the ceremony via live broadcast at Baekyang Hall Auditorium.

-          The ceremony program distributed on-site will serve as a parking pass.

       4)              Degree Conferral Procedure (Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees)

* Please check the attached ceremony program (draft) for details

-          When the representative for degree conferral goes on stage, all graduates with corresponding degrees should stand.

-          When the representative receives the degree and turns the tassel, all graduates are to do the same simultaneously.

-          Graduates may be seated after the representative exits the stage.

  B. UIC Group Photos & Mingling
Recognizing that the university-wide event may not fully highlight our August graduates, UIC will host group photo sessions in the afternoon, accompanied by light refreshments, to provide graduates with an opportunity to celebrate with their peers and professors. Participation in the event is entirely optional.

       1)              Date: Friday, August 29

       2)              Venue: Daewoo Hall Annex, Sinchon Campus

       3)              Schedule:

Please note that space is limited, and the venue may become quite crowded. You are still welcome to stop by at any time during the event. However, if you wish to join your department’s group photo, please make sure to arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled photo time.

   C. Diploma Pickup (After Gown Return Only)

       1)              Date: August 29(Fri) 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

       2)              Venue: Room 204, Daewoo Hall Annex (대우관별관), Sinchon Campus

       3)              Things to Bring: Present your student ID card to pick up your Diploma, or a mobile ID + photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, ARC)

       4)              Diploma Pickup by Proxy: No mailing service available; if you cannot visit in person, you must arrange for a proxy to collect it on your behalf. Graduate should submit this Proxy Pickup Request form (click) in advance, providing the proxy's name, date of birth, and contact information.Proxy should bring their own ID card with photo and DOB, and be able to provide the graduate's student ID number.

       5)            Note:

-          Diplomas can be picked up starting from August 29 only.

-          Physical diploma will be issued only after gown return. Failure to do so may result in a suspension of online diploma issuance.

-          While gown can be returned any time during the rental period, diploma cannot be picked up before August 29.

-          Uncollected diplomas may be picked up later at the UIC Sinchon Office (Daewoo Hall Annex Room 301)

-          A Yonsei teddy bear will be presented along with your diploma.
