Call for Applications
“Kyoto Summer Program” by Kyoto University, Japan: July 25 to August 9, 2024
The call for applications is now open for the “2024 Kyoto Summer Program,” a summer session study abroad program offered to international students from universities around the world as well as those enrolled at Kyoto University. The program will take place at the Kyoto University campus. A maximum of four UIC students will be selected to join the program consisting of 1) academic lectures in English; 2) Japanese language classes*; and 3) field trips and other activities. This is a prestigious program that would merit a place on students’ CVs.** UIC students of any major are eligible to apply.*** No prior coursework on Japan is needed. While priority is given to Korean students, international students are also welcome to apply. The tuition fees are generously covered by Kyoto University, so students are responsible for visa application fees (if applicable), mandatory travel insurance, airfare, costs incurred on field trips/cultural experiences, and accommodations (at a designated facility) and other personal expenses.
*There are no requirements of Japanese language proficiency. Following a placement test, students will be placed in the appropriate level of class.
**This program does not grant UIC credits.
***Selected students must acquire a letter of recommendation from either a professor or an academic advisor to be submitted on the Kyoto University application site by midday June 2.

1) Letter of Interest (no more than 400 words)
2) UIC Transcript (an unofficial copy is acceptable)
Applications will be reviewed by the Kyoto Summer Program Selection Committee, and selected students will be notified individually.
