[Spring 2025] UIC-FIRST Course Registration Procedure and Enrollment

* Starting from the 2024 Fall semester, registration for UIC-FIRST courses will no longer be conducted via Google Forms. Instead, it will be managed through the Yonsei Portal System.

1. Enrollment period: From 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 5 to 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2025 (KST).

2. Eligibility: Only students who have declared ECON, PSIR or QRM as their 1st/2nd major, or who are expected to be assigned these majors, are eligible to apply for UIC-FIRST courses during this period.

3. Procedure:

a)     Log on to Yonsei Portal system (http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr/)

-      Click on the ‘Undergraduate Course Enrollment’

-      Students can allocate maximum of 12 mileage points per course

b)     The system will close exactly on time. To ensure equal opportunity for all students, no late enrollments will be accepted. Please make sure that delayed enrollments due to technical problems cannot be considered.

4. Important 1: In case the number of registrations for certain courses exceeds the capacity of the assigned classrooms, we will attempt to contact the professors teaching those courses to increase the slots. If they are unwilling, priority will be given based on the following criteria:

a) Students who have applied for graduation or completion (the application page will appear before enrollment).

b) Students with a high ratio of total number of credits earned/number of credits required for graduation.

c) Students with a high ratio or number of credits acquired in the previous semester.

5. Important 2: During the enrollment period, students must apply only for UIC-FIRST courses. Records of enrollment in other courses will be canceled without notification.

6. If applied correctly, UIC- FIRST courses will be automatically enrolled. Students can check their enrolled FIRST courses on the first day of the regular course registration period.

7. If registered, four times the credits of the UIC- FIRST courses (12 credits for each course) will be automatically deducted from the total mileage. Hence, students who take advantage of this policy will have reduced mileage during the regular course registration period.

8. Course information, such as instructor, time, and location, is subject to change at any time. Please refer to the course catalog on the portal for final updates.

9. If you are retaking a course, be sure to personally check and update whether to use your retake count during the course registration period.

10. Please note that students on a leave of absence should be approved to return before 12:00 pm (noon), Tuesday, Feb. 4. Otherwise, they may not be eligible for the UIC- FIRST course enrollment.

11. Please note that students who received an academic warning should finish their advising session before 12:00 pm (noon), Tuesday, Feb. 4.

12. Important: QRM students admitted in 2021 or earlier can also apply for the UIC ECON First courses only offered in the UD as Non-QRM. This is not applicable to those admitted in 2022 and thereafter.

13. Contact information: 02-2123-3925 (UD) / 032-749-3760 (HASS)
